Early the next morning, a newspaper carrier found Josh.  The boy for whom the phone never stopped ringing had hanged himself on his best friend's porch...

Nobody wants to talk about it...
not even parents.

Teen suicide is reaching epidemic proportions.

The Josh Platzer Society’s goal is to provide resources in education and awareness on the topic of teen suicide to counselors, students, teachers and families. By promoting dialogue on the subject, it is our aim to reduce the stigma associated with suicide; in particular so that teens will feel easier about sharing their problems with a responsible adult. This would allow earlier intervention that may save another untimely and unnecessary death and spare another family from the tragedy that suicide brings.

To achieve this, we provide an ongoing program of educational presentations to schools, colleges, counselor and parent groups; attend and speak at national and provincial healthcare events; publish information about the facts and symptoms of teen suicide. For a more detailed list of our activities, read about What We Do.

This web site is intended to provide useful information about teens and also to give you the opportunity to contribute to the Josh Platzer Memorial Fund. The Society raises funds for its activities through the Josh Platzer Memorial Fund.
