The Josh Platzer Society was founded by Jude and Ben Platzer in September 2000, a year after the tragic suicide death of their beloved son Josh. The purpose of the Society is to educate British Columbians about suicide prevention, to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and to promote awareness and dialogue on this difficult topic.
Teen Suicide Awareness
“ The Josh Platzer Society’s goal is to provide resources in education and awareness on the topic of teen suicide to counselors, students, teachers and families. By promoting dialogue on the subject, it is our aim to reduce the stigma associated with suicide; in particular so that teens will feel easier about sharing their problems with a responsible adult. ”

The Josh Platzer Society recently held its annual silent auction fundraiser on November 16, 2013. The night was an overwhelming success, with an amazing turn out and tons of hot ticket items to bid on. Winning bidders walked away with weekends at Whistler, gift certificates, instruments, and even a corn on the cob costume.
With your help, we were able to raise around $4,000 for the prevention and awareness of suicide. We want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the evening – your support is what enables us to make a difference.
Again, thank you!
Thanks to all our donors for their continued support at our recent fundraiser (Nov 16th 2014)
